It is signed on the bottom left by Lowry 1922.

It is also inscribed on the rear Racing Special 1922.

There is an open door behind them with just a pair of feet visible.

One of the central figures, who has his back to us, holds a paper.

The painting shows an industrial cityscape, of no place in particular but in the spirit of a northern town such as the artist's native Salford. It is an early work with a dark background, painted before Lowry was encouraged to lighten the sky.
