This lithograph is accompanied by a copy of a letter dated October 1972 from Ganymed original editions limited, 33 Great Turnstile, London WC1, publishers of this print, announcing the publication of a further four lithographs by Lowry. The letter includes the following paragraph:

'There is one copy left of 'Village on a Hill' to which the artist has added some coloured drawing: this unique specimen is offered at £250.'
