Purchased from the artist, or gifted by the artist, to Mr John Morris, Stockport.

Purchased by Mr Harold Liptrott between February-April 1976, and thence by family descent.

The drawing is accompanied by a photocopy of an article which appeared in the Manchester Evening Post, Thursday 15 April 1976. This article states that this drawing is one of the last two drawings ever done by Lowry, and drawn in January 1976, in the month before the artist's death. The article confirms the provenance of the drawing and states that it was sketched on the back of a bow tie box.
